Fishing and Beach Fun at Panama City Beach

The beaches are open and people are flooding to Panama City Beach to enjoy the beautiful weather before it gets too hot. Take a drive down Front Beach Road and you’ll see hundreds of beachgoers enjoying the surf and sand. For the second straight week, tourist activity is now up in Panama City Beach. Visitors from neighboring states in particular are sharing the same sand and hotspots as the locals.

Every week it seems to get better and better and more people are feeling safe to come out of the woodwork and enjoy the beach. Everyone is being kind, practicing social distancing, and just simply enjoying the novel idea of going and enjoying the beach. It’s a great way to get some vitamin D but if it gets too crowded, you might suggest pulling back a bit.

Memorial Day weekend produced 1000 calls to the Panama City Beach Police Department and they enlisted the help of 40 extra officers for the weekend alone. However, it was primarily traffic stops and a couple of arrests due to domestic disputes. There have been no major incidents by Beach Police or the Bay County Sheriff’s office. There have been peaceful protests on the Hathaway bridge across from the Shop that Edgewater but everything has remained somewhat peaceful. I think people just want to enjoy the outdoors and are finding safe and healthy ways to do so.

In other news, Red Snapper season has kicked off this last weekend. Federally permitted red snapper season begins June 1, 2020, and runs through August 1. There are 37 private charter boats at the Capt. Anderson’s marina ready to take people out for Red Snapper fishing.

The marina is a hub for amazing Florida fishing all year long but now it’s snapper time! They offer deep-sea fishing tours, eco-tours and dolphin encounters that Shell Island, and private charter boat trips. All prices include bait, rod, reel, tax, and your fishing license. They are currently on their summer schedule, which runs through August 31. There deep-sea fishing features a five-hour afternoon trip and is available every day.
