Is Destin or Panama City Beach Better?

Panama City Beach

For much of its history, Panama City Beach was filled with small beach cottages and a peaceful beach ambiance. In the past 20 years, development has taken off and Panama City Beach has become an exciting destination for more than just relaxing on the beach. There is now vibrant nightlife and plenty of entertainment. While the whole family will enjoy a vacation to Panama City Beach, there are more adults-only perks in Panama City Beach than in Destin.

Dance clubs, piano bars, and beachside cocktail lounges are all over Panama City Beach, contributing to its appeal as a romantic getaway or spring break destination. There are fishing opportunities in Panama City Beach as well, where anyone who wants to fish can pay a small fee to cast off the pier at the end of Pier Park. For experienced or ambitious fishers, Destin is likely going to be a better destination than Panama City Beach.

While there isn’t really a wrong choice between the two, Destin and Panama City Beach each have their own perks. Traveling to each city will reveal the different ambiance of each, with one appealing more to the vacationer looking for fishing, water sports, and family fun and the other drawing in a traveler looking for nightlife and a more sophisticated getaway.
